The Burden Of Happiness!

For grief so batters our soul,
That we have no choice
But to shine through the cracks
With the flickering light of survival
Ceaselessly, Relentlessly, Helplessly!

But grief also leaves with us
The insatiable will to live,
For them, in their absence,
To preach and strive
For happiness, ever evasive!

Surely, defeat or victory
Is not why grief plays this game.
But neither does she desire
Our complacency, submission
Or even our misery!

But maybe...
The Burden of Happiness

Maybe, the burden of happiness
Is suffered by the
Souls left behind,
Picking up the pieces
Of shattered souls,
Masking the cracks
And filling the voids
With empty words,
Like balloons that burst
Before they form
Or bubbles that pop
Before a touch of love
Graces their surface!

Surely, the Burden of Happiness
Drowns the soul
With it's own ineptitude
To meet the endless demands
Of a wretched life
That craves to move on
But is hiccupped, interrupted, staggered,
By a heaving, sighing, toiling spirit,
That refuses to erase
The imprints of a life...
Foregone...forlorn,
Lived just enough
But not enough!

Hopefully, the burden of happiness...
Shall drown me one day
In a pocket of time lost in eternity,
Or lull me into a peaceful slumber...
On a day just like this one
When life touches others
With warm sunshine and
Light kisses wrapped in iridescence!
But, not me, not me,
Not today, not today,
For there is fight still left in me
One that seeks,tirelessly, resolutely,
The final reward

A release, a reprieve...some relief from
The Burden of Happiness!

...But maybe...
