Forgotten Stories
Out in the wastelands of life
Lie forgotten and marooned
My yesteryears
Of love
Of laughter
Of joy,
A story to tell...
A story to hear...
A story to forget...
In unexpected bends of time.
Flashes vicarious visions
Of my golden moments,
In young hearts.
Racing to each other's core
With no care for any other
In wrinkled fingers,
Interlaced through eternity
Cosseted in aged familiarity
And I wonder,
Would we have treaded
Across the dunes of time
Hearts still ablaze
Souls still intertwined
Or would we have long abandoned
Our impossible dreams
And failed our promises
To Martyr ourselves
At love's sweet feet
There were a thousand more
Idiosyncracies to discover,
A fleet of unfought quarrels
And shards of broken hearts to gather
A million more dimpled smiles
That announced the arrival
Of countless kisses to appease
And Hugs to reconcile
All waiting around a bend of time
In a wasteland far, far away
A story to tell...
A story to hear...
A story to forget...
