Loneliness

Loneliness is a monster

That devours you empty inside,

While trembling in fear

Of the emptiness outside.

Hope prostrates at the feet

Of this vapid, starving demon
That prowls in the heart
Of despair and rejection.

Pride holds vagrant emotions at bay;
Forbidden!
She imprisons infirmities and woes;
Incarcerated!
Lest someone connects with our reality.
Hidden!
And thus,
Loneliness traps solitude
On cold dawns 
And darkness begets shadows
Of memories of light...
Transient...

Finite...

Born and yet unborn...
